How long does a verification email take to arrive?
New emails often appear within seconds, but there’s no fixed delivery time that applies to every sending system. The homepage checks the inbox about every 7 seconds; that’s just the page’s check interval. Application queues, provider retries, and receiving systems take additional time. If you’ve been waiting a while, check the delivery logs instead of treating the refresh interval as a delivery promise.
Should I keep clicking “Resend”?
No. Wait for the application’s cooldown to end, then trigger the email once and record the time. Repeated resends can trigger rate limits or invalidate an earlier code. If several emails arrive later, it may be harder to tell which code is current.
Can I still receive emails sent before an address expires?
Don’t keep using an expired address as a valid inbox. Tempcase temporary addresses are valid for 3 hours by default. Each extension adds 3 hours during the validity period, up to 24 hours total per address. Once it expires, the address and emails are deleted and can’t be recovered. Any old task the provider is still retrying won’t be redirected to a new address automatically.
Does not receiving an email prove my code is wrong?
No. A wrong address, missing task, queue delay, domain restriction, or rejection can all leave your inbox empty. Match the current address, request ID, and delivery events to narrow down the cause. If logs aren’t available, keep the cause unknown rather than assuming a code error.
What if the log says “delivered” but the email isn’t in my inbox?
First check what the provider means by “delivered,” the final recipient, and the event time. Then confirm the current address hasn’t expired or changed, and refresh the inbox once manually. If the mismatch remains, email support@tempcase.com with the time, temporary address, and a redacted message ID. Don’t include a verification code or production credentials.
Does every website accept one-time email addresses?
No. Some services restrict temporary email domains, either rejecting requests or showing only a generic message. Check the service’s rules and response, and don’t try to get around restrictions by repeatedly changing addresses. For your own staging tests, use controlled configuration. For accounts that need to receive recovery emails long-term, consider a forwarding alias.
